FlowJam 4 Line Up
The music of Mateo Monk is beyond classification. It is a synthesis of multiple genres of world roots music, heavily informed by the spontaneous freedom of psychedelic jam culture. Mateo performs solo on the guitar, flute, synthesizer, and melodica, utilizing a looper pedal to create fully-textured rhythms, adorned with virtuosic melodic musings, all seamlessly woven into the song form in real time. It’s a modern spin on the iconic idea of the “one man band”, executed by a one-of-a-kind artist with deep emotional sensibility and dazzling instrumental finesse. Mateo has been performing for 23 years and has worked with many influential artists, including Thievery Corporation, Junior Marvin of Bob Marley and The Wailers, and members of the legendary reggae group Culture.
Buddhagraph Spaceship is an American rock band from Blacksburg, Virginia with roots stretching from the old time to the far side and all foundations between. Creating a bridge between accoustic and electronic improvisation, they blend elements of Funk, Jam, Folk, Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz, Americana, Progressive Rock, Reggae, and much more to achieve their eclectic sound. With a passion for creativity and the motivation to push boundaries, the band functions upon a musical paradigm for the further of artistic expression.
The band was created in the spring of 2014 and has since been an active influence on the Virginia music scene. The band consists of six members and a variety of instruments.
Jameson Price and Laney Sullivan make up Lobo Marino, a Richmond-based duo whose elegantly eerie chant-like intones soar over drone-vibing world-fused folk music built primarily on harmonium, bass drum and various other unique instruments and voices.
Named after the enormous Pacific Sea Lion, their brand of halcyon, experimental folk draws from a rich palette of international influences. Chaotic yet harmonious, their infectious hooks and intoxicating vocals are both hypnotically spiritual and deeply soulful.
Woven Green is the musical vision of husband and wife team, Jim Cash and Ashley Cash. The couple has been actively performing their unique blend of contemporary folk, world, and new age music throughout the regional area for more than 10 years. They are known for their uplifting and inspiring songs, their sound healing meditations, and for their leadership as award-winning visionary musicians. Whether through sound, song, or poetry, Woven Green invites listeners to embark upon the mythic journey towards inner alchemy, helping to awaken sacred connection with the earth, cosmos, and the unified source within us all. They are committed to their efforts to build a community that supports unity, diversity, and wellness in mind, body, and spirit.
A country girl with an urban edge, Edy Blu’s highly emotive and soothing vocal tone will haunt you long after you leave her presence. Her beauty will capture you as soon as she steps on the stage. She has a knack for writing and composing catchy, melody-driven songs that you will easily find yourself grooving to. Edy was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Growing up on a farm, the world was her playground. Born a natural dreamer, the back-drop of mountains and woods only fueled Edy’s free-spirited tendencies. Yearning for more worldly experiences, Ms. Blu relocated to Sydney, Australia. It was during her three years abroad that she began to realize her musical potential by performing at various showcases and open mics.
As music became more than just a hobby, she crossed the Pacific and found herself in Washington, D.C. She became the lead singer of a rock and roll cover band to hone her chops and stage presence. She was also given the opportunity to sit in with different area bands, including reggae powerhouse, See-I at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Wednesday nights. These experiences gave her the confidence to start a band around her original compositions in late 2012. Her soulful, rootsy vibe and energizing live performances have been garnering her fans around the DMV.
Ithaca, NY singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Travis Knapp released his third album of uplifting soulful folk songs in August of 2016. “All the Stars You Hold” is largely driven by clawhammer banjo, piano, and other less-conventional songwriting instruments (kalimba, shruti box), and it features many of Ithaca’s finest musicians. The album travels from celebratory fiddle tunes and prayerful grooves to playful storytelling and meditative moods.
– 2016 Winner of “Best of Bound for Glory” [Bound for Glory is the longest running live folk radio show in the country, in its 50th year], voted for by the Friends of Bound for Glory (www.boundforglory.org)
“All the Stars You Hold” – a Circus to the Music of Travis Knapp – was premiered at Circus Culture in Ithaca on September 23rd and 24th to enthusiastic full houses. The show featured Travis and a 5-piece band performing the album start-to-finish, with a different circus act for every song.
His last album, “For Everything That’s Good” , was written while bicycle to

Jennie (RYT) is the founder and owner of Bluebird Sky Yoga in Brookland, D.C. Jennie started practicing yoga nearly a decade ago while living in Colorado and was immediately hooked on the fluid movements that reminded her of her days dancing growing up. Yoga has remained an integral part of her life because it allows her to disconnect from the stress of daily life, connect with an incredible global community of compassionate people, and see the world more clearly.
Across Jennie’s years studying yoga, she has fallen in love with many different lineages, in large part because of the diverse and inspiring teachers who have passed through her life. Through her classes, Jennie seeks to encourage students to grow as her teachers have done for her. As a former radio show host, music is a central component of each of her classes. Jennie completed her 200-hour Vinyasa and Power Yoga training with Mimi Rieger, 50-hour Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa (Rocket) training with David Kyle, and 60-hour Primal Yoga® Flow training with Liz Arch.
Expect thoughtfully sequenced classes influenced by the Ashtanga tradition and infused with playful sequencing, funky variations on traditional poses, pranayama, and on some occasions martial arts (from her Primal Yoga® Flow background).

Meredith Wyman Walsh
Owner, WineDown Yoga; Creator & host for FlowJam
I created FlowJam festival, in collaboration, to share the farm I grew up on with the healers of the world, and all those who want to learn from nature. It's grown into this magical experience with THE BEST local musicians, healers and co-creators and leaves people floating on clouds for weeks. I share yoga to ignite the spark in everyone I meet and to build awareness of our connection to the environment. Sharing this practice allows me to fulfill my innermost desire to offer healing to the world and allows me to supply people with the tools and wisdom to create sustainable behavior change in their life. I believe yoga is the system ordinary individuals can use to do extraordinary things to positively impact the world. Every individual has the power, but it takes awakening the spark within and letting go of the ego to become aware. Yoga reignites my desires everyday, and everyday I strive to be a better version of myself.
I love to incorporate a wide variety of yoga lineages into a smorgasbord of fun in my classes! I teach on land and in a heated therapy pool. I love learning and my students are my best teachers. My practice has deepened following an accident and opening a studio (www.pranapiloga.com) was the next step in my journey. I have started to shift from teaching a Mandala Vinyasa yoga (yang) to Wellness yoga (yin) since so many of my clients are super stressed out. Many thanks and blessings to my teacher Maryam Ovissi, owner of Beloved Yoga – her encouragement is paramount in my journey. 200 eRYT, 500 eRYT
A resident of Bluemont, VA, Stuart is a strong believer in combining yoga practice with fitness training, along with healthy diet. He practiced various types of yoga over the last 20 years (Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa) but started a strong (daily) practice of Kundalini Yoga in 2004. He also practiced martial arts and Tai Chi for many years. He is a Yoga Alliance-certified Kundalini (200hr E-RYT), Hatha (200hr E-RYT), and Silver Age/Silver Sneakers yoga teacher. He teaches about a dozen classes weekly for private clients in Northern Virginia, Gold’s Fitness Clubs in Reston, Leesburg, and Tysons Corner; and at the Reston, Herndon and Bluemont Community Centers.
Stuart provides public and/or private instruction in each of these types of yoga: (1) Kundalini Yoga (for beginner through advanced students, open to all ages and levels of ability – very active and anaerobic); (2) Hatha Yoga (traditional yoga, for all ages and levels of ability – typically less active and focused on poses, stretching, and slower movements); and (3) Senior/Gentle and Easy-Does-It Yoga (designed for those challenged by age, illness, injury or inactivity). Often, at the end of class, Stuart plays his Native American flute during the relaxation period.
Atticus has an insatiable appetite for the infinite dimensions of our human experience; she believes magick lies within the grey area of transition and unknowns; and so she shares teachings from that place. Artistic movement is her portal to spirit and she draws on lifelong experience as a movement artist of various expressions to feel through life. As a dancer, intuitive and yoga teacher she synthesizes her appreciation of form and formless to curate transformational events. She is the founder of Source Cacao, which imports ceremonial-grade cacao from Guatemala and hosts cacao ceremonies in the US. Additionally she is the founder and producer of Ecstatic Dance DC, a chapter in a global network of conscious freeform dance communities. As a 200-hour eRYT and a 500-hour RYT she facilitates yoga classes and yoga teacher trainings internationally; she has taught for the Hirshhorn Museum of Modern Art and is contracted to teach at the Kennedy Center and US Botanical Gardens in Washington, DC. Adrianne is a social change agent focusing on using yoga and conscious movement as a means to promote peace and overall well being. She sees self-care as an integral method to help people truly re-imagine, and re-create the type of world we want to live in. After spending more than 7 years as a communication strategist for progressive nonprofits, and running her own consulting firm for three years, Adrianne shifted her focus to life coaching and full time healing advocacy as a means to be of better service to her colleagues--especially in our changing political climate. She wanted to find a way to link social justice work and healing work together, as her self-care practice contained tools that had helped her find peace in her own life, while also embracing the fire so true to her being. A life filled with constant resistance was making her feel helpless as she was watching her colleagues get more and more burnt out. At the same time, her connection to all things spiritual was becoming greater. Social justice is spiritual work, and so she started Yoga for Justice in 2016 as a response to the media's coverage of police brutality and race relations currently dividing the country. The more we can focus on balancing our perspective, the better advocates we can be for creating the life we truly want to live. This means getting comfortable with who we are, and releasing the historical trauma that keeps us bound to systematic oppression. Embracing the nickname Namaslay, Adrianne uses reiki, creative movement, music, yoga philosophy and continues to “teach kickboxing like a yoga teacher,” all while encouraging others to slay stereotypes on and off the mat daily.

Hello friends, here's a little background about me and my yogic path. I attended my first class roughly around 2007 and I have to say I was not immediately hooked. I struggled for a couple of years in and out of class. Until one day I put aside my ego, slowed down my practice and learned how to breathe. I started to see amazing changes in my life physically and emotionally. Yoga had become a daily part of my life on and off the mat. In 2012 I decided I wanted to give back to yoga what it had giving to me so I signed up for Teacher Training. I graduated from the Flow yoga teacher training program with a RYT 200 hour certification in Vinyasa. I have studied Prana flow under Shiva Rea , Marie Garre and the Amazing Jennifer Stow as well as a slew of other amazing teachers and different styles. I would describe my practice as very fluid and a watery practice where I'm always linking breath with movement. My yoga practice is always evolving. And I love teaching challenging classes. But with that said remember to slow down and breath. "Your ego is not your amigo."I invite you to come share your practice with me and I can't wait to see all your beautiful smiling faces on the mat. I leave you with the mantra of compassion - Om Mani Padme Hum
“For me, Contact Improvisation represents the more basic, more primal side of what dance is. It is postmodern, it is a deconstruction of dance which lays bare the underpinnings of dance that many other dance forms hide. It also serves as a tool to explore the murky depths of our humanity: few forms are so deep, rich, and potent that after a dance you have to journal for half an hour because of what was discovered or got stirred up,” says Duane. Duane is one of the many dancers who first discovered Contact Improvisation at the Center Camp Jam at Burning Man. The year was 2004. “I was excited and mesmerized by what I saw. It took me half an hour to get the guts to go in and try it. I remember this woman giving me a kind of a piggyback ride. I had no idea what it was; I was just figuring it out as it was happening.” Later someone came up to him and asked how long he had been doing Contact Improvisation. That is how he discovered the form had a name, and he was delighted to hear that it is indeed practiced outside of Burning Man, and that he could probably find a jam in his hometown in the “default world.”
